Albertaceratops nesmoi Ornithischia Ceratopsia

Skeleton of Albertaceratops
Albertaceratops is a centrosaurine ceratopsian with long bow horns, described in 2007. The Centrosaurinae bear relatively shorter "frill" than the Casmosaurinae. This specimen was reconstructed with relatively "long frill" because the "frill" was not found and it was believed to belong to Casmosaurinae. There are several interpretations for the function of the "frill" of ceratopsians, such as defense, thermoregulation, attachment for jaw muscles and so on. It is assumed that the "frill" might have worked for display in mating or territorial fight.
