Dr. Khishigjav TSOGTBAATAR, the Vice President of the Asia Dinosaur Association, passed away on June 23, 2026.
In Memory of Dr. Tsogtbaatar
Dr. Khishigjav Tsogtbaatar, former Director of the Institute of
Paleontology, Mongolian Academy of Sciences, passed away on June 23, 2026,
at the age of 67. A leading authority on dinosaur paleontology, he devoted
his life to advancing Mongolian paleontology and geology through research,
international collaboration, and education. He described several new
dinosaur taxa, published extensively, and played a major role in protecting
Mongolia’s fossil heritage. He also played an important role for managing
the institute and museum. His outstanding achievements earned him many
national honors. His lifelong dedication and warm mentorship leave a lasting
legacy, and he will be deeply missed by colleagues around the world.
